Processing and transit
Orders ship within 4 weeks of purchase, often sooner. Every plant is packed by hand and orders ship in the order they were placed. You get tracking by email the moment your label scans.
We ship early in the week so nothing sits in a facility over the weekend. USPS Priority Mail typically delivers in 2–3 days after pickup; UPS 2nd Day Air delivers in 2 business days. You receive tracking by email as soon as the label scans.
Substrate and plants ship separately
If your order has both The Dirty Bowtie substrate and plants, expect two boxes. The substrate ships first, by ground, and normally goes out ahead of the plants. Plants go out on our next plant shipping day, early in the week, so nothing sits in a truck over a weekend. Sometimes we can tuck a seedling or two in with the substrate and send one box — when it works, we do it — but usually the substrate and the plants travel separately. Either way you are charged shipping once, and you get tracking for each box as it goes out.
Weather holds
Plants are living things. When temperatures at either end are unsafe, we hold your order and email you rather than gamble with it. Heat packs are added in winter at no charge when needed.
Delivery problems
If tracking shows delivered and the box is not there, check with your carrier and neighbors first, then email us — we will help. Packages lost or damaged in transit are covered by our Arrive Alive Guarantee: send photos within 48 hours of delivery and we replace it or issue store credit.
Address accuracy
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We ship exactly what is on the order. Packages returned as undeliverable can be reshipped once new shipping is paid.
